  • There isn't one aspect of my job that I don't like.  I even feel weird calling it a 'job' sometimes.

missing megan...

So this blog entry is part birthday wish, but mostly it is an apology.  Today is Megan's birthday you see and I have been a crappy friend and ex-neighbor for almost six months now.  This past June, my neighbors of the last three years moved to the San Francisco area.  In short, I let my 'summer of wedding love' get the best of me and I haven't called/written/emailed Megan at all (insert loud 'boo' here).  The photos below are from their 'going away' bbq back in June - Lily sat with me while I was getting them ready.  She said 'mama - Sean-knee and Baby-Evan need to come over so we can go trick 'n treat with them'.  I cried a little bit - I don't do 'good-byes' very well and I totally tanked on the good bye with the Petersons.  Megan, I miss you and your men very much - there is a ton of love up here in Seattle for you.  xoxo

Engagement Photography ~ Pioneer Square & Sculpture Park ~ Sara & Calvin

I just love it when I meet with a couple and can almost hear the "click" between us.  This is how I felt from my first phone call with Sara - she and Calvin are just really great people.  I love the way Calvin looks at Sara - he's totally smitten and Sara's eyes?!?  They are crazy gorgeous.  This couple has been together since Junior High - so sweet.  We first played around Occidental Park in Pioneer Square and then headed over to the Olympic Sculpture Park.  The storm coming in just about blew us away down at the park's little beach, but we had a great time anyway.  I'm really thrilled to be photographing their wedding next summer - if their family & friends are 1/2 as fun, the wedding is going to rock!

Alderbrook Resort & Spa Wedding ~ Hood Canal ~ Erin & Dustin

Spending the day at Alderbrook Resort on the Hood Canal for Erin & Dustin's wedding was a huge treat for me.  I love Alderbrook - it is one of my most favorite wedding venues and Erin & Dustin are definitely one of my most favorite couples.  I arrived at Erin's suite to join her getting ready with her sisters and mom.  Her mother said some of the sweetest things to her - it was just the beginning of many happy tears throughout the day. Dustin was so excited to see her - his tears started even before he turned around at their first look.  We had so much fun together playing out on the grounds - they even dipped their toes off the dock for me!  The awesome Annemarie Juhlian was their officiant (and the reason I met E & D!) - she passed their rings around to all of the guests before the ceremony started so that their friends and family could put some good energy on them - so very cool.  After their beautiful ceremony, everyone gathered below the deck for a group photo and then headed in for the yummiest brunch (yes, bacon.  bacon good.)  There were touching toasts and a totally yummy cake.  A lot of couples chat during their 'first dance', but Dustin sang to Erin almost the whole time.  Erin's parents gave her a necklace right before her dad danced with her and I noticed another father dancing with his little girl over in the corner - that just about got me.  The whole day was just so sweet and I am so glad to have been part of it!
